How to Access the UW-Parkside Virtual Computer Lab

This article contains information on the UWP virtual computer lab and how to access it. The virtual computer lab provides students access to academic software through a web browser and an Internet connection. The lab is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The virtual lab can be accessed from on or off campus.

Important: Off campus access is typically limited to classes that need specialized software. Your Instructor can request access for a class by contacting labmanager@uwp.edu.

[Recommended Browser: Chrome]

2. From the VMware Horizon client select window, select VMware Horizon HTML Access.

3. Log in using your UW-Parkside credentials.

4. Click on Main Lab to launch the virtual desktop.

How to save your Virtual Lab files

Because local file storage is unavailable in the virtual lab environment, users are advised to save file(s) to their UW-Parkside OneDrive

    1. In the virtual lab environment, navigate to the file you'd like to save.
    2. Open a browser window and navigate to the UW-Parkside Logins page.
    3. On the logins page, click on the OneDrive link, then log in using your UW-Parkside Username and Password

    4. Locate the OneDrive folder/location to which you'd like to save the file.
    5. Resize the browser window so that both the file and the OneDrive folder are visible on the screen at the same time.
    6. To Drag and Drop the file, Click and Hold the selected file, then Drag it over to the designated OneDrive folder in the web browser.
    7. Wait for the Upload to Complete: A progress bar or upload notification will appear in the browser. Once finished, the file will appear in your OneDrive folder.

IMPORTANT: If a file is saved to the local "virtual" desktop, it will be permanently deleted once the user logs out of the virtual environment.
