How to Access the UW-Parkside Virtual Computer Lab

This article contains information on the UWP virtual computer lab and how to access it. The virtual computer lab provides students access to academic software through a web browser and an Internet connection. The lab is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Available software includes MS Project Professional [v.2019], SPSS, RStudio, Tableau, Python, VMware, and more.

The virtual lab can be accessed from on or off campus.

[Recommended Browser: Chrome]

2. From the VMware Horizon client select window, select VMware Horizon HTML Access.

How to save your Virtual Lab files

Because local file storage is unavailable in the virtual lab environment, users must save their files to one of the following locations:

  • UW-Parkside *(H:) drive
  • Microsoft One Drive
  • External storage device (USB drive, portable hard drive, etc.)
  • Send file via email

*When logged into the virtual environment, all of the Parkside network drives, including the your (H:) drive will be listed under "My Computer". The (H:) drive will have your UW-Parkside NetID attached to it.

Example of (H:) drive naming convention:

IMPORTANT: If a file is saved to the local "virtual" desktop, it will be permanently deleted once the user logs out of the virtual environment.
