Canvas & Online Student Resources

This document goes over all of the support resources available to students, including but not limited to: Canvas support, the Technology Help Desk, library resources, and accessibility.

Canvas Support


Canvas is Parkside's new learning management system. The transition from D2L to Canvas will be complete for the Fall 2019 semester.

Canvas has Tier 1 Support which means that you will no longer need to fill out a Support Form if you run into trouble using the learning management system. Instead, Canvas Help is available 24/7, 365 days a year. This support is located under the Help button on the far left navigation bar:

You can email, call, or chat directly with Canvas support whenever you need it.

  • Canvas Student Training Course - all students can self-enroll in the Canvas Student Training Course, which will appear on your Course Dashboard on the homepage of Canvas once you enroll. This course will walk you through all of the different features of Canvas. You can self-enroll into the course by clicking here.

The Technology Help Desk is available M-R, 7:45 AM - 10:30 PM and F, 7:45 AM - 4:30. The Help Desk can be reached at servicedesk@uwp.edu, or by phone at (262) 595-2444.

Microsoft Office 365 
Lynda.com 
Students have access to lynda.com for free using their student accounts. Lynda offers its subscribers access to over 125,000 videos and tutorials on a wide variety of subjects ranging from Adobe Creative Suite to Microsoft Office and more.
Wisconsin Integrated Software Catalog [WISC]
This site lets students, faculty, staff, and departments of the University of Wisconsin and Wisconsin Technical College Systems purchase popular software packages at substantial discounts. WISC strives to get the maximum value from software publishers for each dollar our customers (you) spend on software.


Note: Please do your part to keep your data private. Canvas uses an authenticated login meaning you will need to use your UWP credentials to gain access to your course(s). If you are using a public computer, remember to log out when you are finished. Please visit the Campus Technology Services website for more information on Network Security.



Library Research Help


The Parkside Library offers thousands of books, articles and more for research and we are always happy to assist through chat or email: askus@uwp.edu / phone: (262) 595-2238.


NetTutor


NetTutor is an online tutoring service hosted through Canvas. It's a great resource if you need help in a particular area of study. You can receive tutoring help in math, English, business, and more. NetTutor is supported by the Parkside Academic Resource Center (PARC) on campus. To contact the center, you can send them an email at parc@uwp.edu, or call them directly at (262) 595-2044.

NetTutor Access
The link to NetTutor can be found on D2L. As of now NetTutor is not integrated with Canvas, but it can still be accessed through D2L. If you need access to D2L, please fill out a D2L Support Form.

Accessibility Resources
