eduroam - How to connect to eduroam on an Android Device
The network 'eduroam' is the preferred method for connecting to WiFi on campus. It stays connected in between buildings and only requires extra sign ins when you change your password every 6 months. Some settings required for eduroam are not automatically set for eduroam and must be manually configured. Follow this guide below to connect your android device to eduroam!
Please note some menus may look different on your device compared to the screenshots, however the process of configuring eduroam is the same.
-
First, go to the settings app. Its icon typically looks like a gear. Once in the settings app, locate the 'connections' or 'WiFi' menu and tap it. If your device is like the one in the screenshots below, please tap 'WiFi' in the connections menu. Be sure not to tap the switch to the right of 'WiFi' as this will turn wifi off
-
In the wifi menu, you will see a list of available networks. Tap 'eduroam'
-
Before continuing, please ensure the following is correct:
- 'EAP Method' is set to PEAP
- CA certificate is set to Don't Validate
- Phase 2 authentication is set to MSCHAPV2
Finally, enter your username (everything before the @ symbol in your email), and enter the password you commonly use (i.e. for canvas, rangermail, etc.). Leave all unspecified fields blank.
