Enhanced Rubrics
Key features:
Overview: Copying and Duplicating Elements
In Canvas, rubrics that have been used in assignments with student submissions cannot be fully edited. To make adjustments or reuse a rubric for a new course or assignment, you can create a duplicate or copy it to another course.
How to Duplicate a Rubric:
- Navigate to the Rubrics home page.
- In the Actions column, click the three dots icon.
- Select Duplicate from the menu. The duplicated rubric will appear on your list and can be fully edited before being added to a new assignment.

- To edit individual criteria, click the pencil icon next to the criterion. You can update the criterion name, description, point value, rating title, and rating description.

How to Copy a Rubric to Another Course:
- From the Actions menu, select Copy To.
- In the pop-up window, choose the destination course from the list.
- (Optional) Select a specific assignment within that course to attach the rubric to.
- Click Copy to complete the process.
