Instructional Continuity Guide for Teaching & Learning
Instructional Continuity refers to the continuation of course instruction in the event the campus is closed for an extended period of time. This resource contains a list of best practices/steps for UW-Parkside instructors on how to continue with course instruction online during campus closings.
Extended campus closures and course cancellations can occur as a result of inclement weather, widespread illness, unexpected events, etc. In the event of a campus closure, instructors should be prepared to adapt their instruction to accommodate for online course delivery.
Online Communication
- Have a consistent communication strategy to avoid confusion. The quickest way to communicate with your entire class from within Canvas is to post an Announcement.
Student Resources:
How do I set my Canvas notification preferences as a student?
How do I use the Dashboard as a student?
How do I view Announcements as a student?
- - Post your syllabus in your Canvas course under the Syllabus tab and update it with course changes as needed.
Online course delivery options
There are several options to continue instruction in
the event of a campus closure. These can include synchronous class
sessions, asynchronous activities such as readings, recorded lectures,
threaded discussions, and other possibilities.
