This document will walk you through recording audio and adding it to a PowerPoint.

PowerPoint - How to Record Audio in PowerPoint

Step 1

Open up the slide that you want your audio clip to play on. 

Step 2

 Click on the "Insert" tab on the upper toolbar.


Step 3

Press the "Audio" button on the upper-right side of your screen and click on the "Record Audio..." option.

NOTE: You will not be able to select this option if your computer doesn't have a built-in microphone or a plugged-in external microphone.

Step 4

When you are ready, click on the "Record" icon to immediately being recording your audio.


Step 5

When you are finished recording your audio, click on the "Stop" button and hit "OK."


Step 6

Your audio should be placed on the current slide after you clicked "OK" in the previous step. If you click on the speaker icon, you can drag it around or access the audio formatting options in the toolbar on the upper-right of your screen.
