How to set a default program on Windows 10

Click the start menu and type 'Default' into the search bar. The best match should be Default Apps

By clicking the icon under each section, a list of possible apps will appear.
By choosing an app from the list, you will set the default app for that category.
Setting Default Program by File type

Click the start menu and type file type into the search bar. The best match will be 'Choose a default app for each file type'.

On the left will be a column with file types, on the right will be the default app corresponding to that file type.

By choosing the icon next to the default app a list will appear of apps available to use for that file type

File types are in alphabetical order. For example, you can scroll down to .pdf file type, and choose 'Adobe Acrobat Reader DC' as the default app for PDFS
