We have been notified that all earlier problems with D2L should be resolved.

Message from Learn@UW

As of 9:25 AM, users should no longer be receiving errors while accessing or uploading files in Learn@UW/D2L. Steps have been taken to mitigate the problem; however, we are still investigating the root cause and a permanent solution to the issue.

UPDATE from Learn@UW at 8:51am

Here is the current message from Learn@UW:

Learn@UW Utility is currently investigating reports of errors in the Content tool. PPT, PDF, and HTML files have been confirmed to be affected, and all UWS campuses, including UWM, are affected.

We’re engaging UW-Madison DoIT technicians to troubleshoot further.

Learn@UW has a KB news item available for this outage ( and will update this list with more information as we receive it.


3/15/2018 - 7:49am - D2L Outage

We have just been notified that there is a problem in D2L that affects the ability to view PDF files and download documents. 

Learn at UW in Madison is working on the problem and we will update you as soon as we receive information.

Blackboard Collaborate Ultra is experiencing intermittent connectivity issues. UW-System technicians are working to resolve the issue.

UPDATE - The D2L access outage from browsers has been resolved


UPDATE - Message from Madison. 2/28/2018 10:13am

Investigation of the behavior impacting access to Learn@UW / D2L and other UW-Madison hosted web services remains ongoing this morning.  

We have some additional information to report.  As you are likely aware, the bulk of known problematic behavior has been with the Firefox browser.  However, there are several confirmed reports of impacts to other browser versions, including:

IE: 11.2007.14393.0
Edge: 38.14393.1066.0

We have received word that D2L (Desire to Learn) is unavailable when using the internet browser Firefox.  This outage is system wide. 

If you need access to D2L, please use another browser such as IE (Internet Explorer) or Chrome or Safari.
