Mac - Display Settings

This document tells users how to change the display settings on their computer or laptop.

If you are having trouble getting your Mac to display on the projectors in the classrooms, chances are the Display Settings have to be adjusted under System Preferences. While your laptop is hooked up to the projector, select the apple icon at the top left of your screen.

Apple Icon

You will see an option titled "System Preferences...".

Apple Menu, select System Preferences

When you select that option, it'll open up the System Preferences window.

System Preferences Main Menu

Select the "Displays" button.

You'll have different options to choose from under the Display menu. All of the sizing options will be under the "Scaled" button. Adjusting the scale should allow your laptop's image to display properly on the screen. Different classrooms may require different settings, depending on the projector.

You will also have the option to change the mirrored settings under the "Arrangement" tab. By unchecking the "Mirror Displays" box, you can display separate images on the laptop and projector. When that box is checked, the image will be the same on both screens.

Note: some classrooms will automatically mirror the laptop image with the image on the classroom PC.
