Office 365 Access and Moving Files to OneDrive
Purchasing and activating your own Office 365 license
Here’s a step-by-step guide to purchasing and activating your own Office 365 license:

Purchase a License:

Visit the Microsoft Office website or a trusted retailer to purchase an Office 365 subscription.

Choose the plan that best suits your needs (e.g., Office 365 Personal, Office 365 Home, etc.).

Receive Your License Key:

After purchasing, you will receive a license key, either via email or on the retailer’s website.

Download Office 365:
-

Go to the Office 365 download page provided by Microsoft.

Sign in with your Microsoft account (this can be your personal email).

Install Office 365:

Follow the instructions to download and install the Office 365 applications on your computer.

Activate Office 365:

Open any Office application (e.g., Word, Excel).

When prompted, enter the license key you received during the purchase.

Complete the activation process by signing in with your Microsoft account.

How to access Office 365 Online

Go to https://myapps.uwp.edu.

Login and authenticate using your UW-Parkside Username and Password.

Click on the Office 365 tile.

Click on the waffle icon in the upper left corner. From here, you can access Office 365 online productivity tools, such as Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.

This change ensures compliance with our licensing agreements while still allowing you to utilize essential productivity tools online.

Moving files to OneDrive
Using the OneDrive Website:

Open your web browser and go to the OneDrive Web Portal.

Use your UW-Parkside account credentials to sign in.

Upload Files:
-

Click on the “Upload” button at the top of the page.

Select “Files” or “Folder” depending on what you want to upload.

Browse your computer to select the files or folders you want to upload and click “Open”.

Using the OneDrive Desktop App:
- Open OneDrive: If you have the OneDrive app installed on your computer, open it. If not, please refer to the O365 installation guide.
- Use your UW-Parkside account credentials to sign in.
- Open File Explorer (on Windows) or Finder (on Mac) and locate the files or folders you want to move to OneDrive.
- Drag and drop them into the OneDrive folder.
Using the OneDrive Mobile App:

Open the OneDrive App: Download and open the OneDrive app on your mobile device.

Sign in: Use your UW-Parkside account credentials to sign in.

Upload Files:

Tap the “+” icon.
-
Select “Upload”.
-
Choose the files or photos you want to upload from your device.

Once uploaded, your files will be accessible from any device where you can sign in to OneDrive.

Sharing Files Between Accounts
Open the OneDrive account that is the owner of the file you want to share and go to My Files.
Click the circle next to the file or folder you want to share. This must be done individually otherwise the appropriate options will not appear.
Click the three dots on the file and go to Manage Access.
Click the Start sharing link toward the bottom of the Manage Access pop-up. Alternatively, you can click the Grant Access icon at the top right of the pop-up.
Enter the email of the new account that needs access, grant the new account permission to edit, and click send.
If you clicked the Grant Access icon, you will need to confirm the notify people box is checked in addition to the previous steps.
Go to the email account you have just entered and click the email. Check your spam, junk, or other folders if you do not see the email.
Click Open.
Sign in on the Microsoft page with your new account.
Click Send Code to send a single-use passcode (also known as a One-Time Passcode or OTP) to the email.
The passcode should be visible from the description of the email.
If not visible, simply open the email and retrieve it.
Enter the code on the prompt page and click sign in.
After signing in, you will see the file or folder you just shared.
