How to Access Horizon VDI in Your Web Browser
The VDI in the web browser is intended for certain students who need access to certain software. This article contains instructions on how to access the VDI from home. The VDI is typically only available on-campus. If you have been instructed to use Horizon but do not know if you have access, please send us an e-mail to CTSHelpDesk@uwp.edu.
- Open your preferred web browser (Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, etc.) and visit vdi.uwp.edu. Click the “VMware Horizon HTML Access” option on the right.
Login with your UW-Parkside username and password
Click “Main Lab” to launch the Horizon VDI.
You are now connected to the VDI! You can search for programs by opening the Start Menu and using the Search function.
When using the VDI, we recommend saving files to the Desktop and dragging them into OneDrive (accessible from your RangerMail). This will allow them to be accessed from outside of the VDI.
NOTE: When you close out Horizon, all progress will be lost as the VDI resets to default after each use. It is pertinent you save files to OneDrive to save your work. Please reference this article for assistance in moving files from the VDI to your PC using OneDrive.
