CANVAS - How to add an Office 365 PowerPoint file to a Canvas course
Best practices/options for adding a PowerPoint presentation to a Canvas course.
There are a couple of different ways to add an Office 365 SharePoint or OneDrive PowerPoint file to a Canvas course. The file can be embedded using the Canvas Office 365 integration or it can be added as an External URL.
Option 1: How to add an Office 365 (Canvas integration) PowerPoint file to a Canvas course
Note: In order to use the Canvas Office 365 integration to add a file to your course, the file must first be uploaded to your OneDrive.










Create a New Folder in OneDrive
- Log into Rangermail
- Click on the Rangermail icon located on the UW-Parkside Logins page.
- Login using your NetID and Password.
- Click on the App icon located in the upper left corner.
- Select OneDrive.

- Create a Semester Folder.
- Click on New > Folder.
- Name the folder then click on the Create button.

- Next, create a folder for each course, inside the Semester Folder.
- Click to open the Semester Folder.
- Click on New > Folder.
- Name the folder and then click on the Create button. Do this for each Canvas course you'd like to add content to.

How to upload a PowerPoint file to a OneDrive Folder
- From within the OneDrive folder you wish to upload to, click on Upload.
- Select Files.
- Locate the file you wish to upload then click on the Open button.

How to add a OneDrive PowerPoint to a Canvas course
- To add a OneDrive PowerPoint to a Module, click on the Plus sign.

- Click to expand the drop down menu and select External Tool.

- Select Office 365 > Add Item.

- Check the box next to the file you wish to add to the course > Attach File.

- Click on the Add Item button.

- Click on the gray circle to the right of the file to Publish it.
