How to Upload an Ultra Recording to Kaltura and Embed the Recording in Canvas

This document explains how to upload a saved Ultra recording download into Kaltura My Media.

To start, you will need to download your Ultra recording as a .mp4 file. For instructions on how to do that, click here. Once you have your Ultra recording downloaded, you can upload it to Kaltura so the video can be embedded into your Canvas course.

First, click on Account on the black navigation bar within Canvas and select My Media from the menu:

My Media under Account in Canvas

From the My Media page, click on the blue Add New button and select Media Upload from the drop down menu.

My Media > Add New > Media Upload

Once you've uploaded your Ultra recording and it's saved in your My Media, you can go back to Canvas and embed the video anywhere a rich text editor is available (Pages, Assignments, Discussions, Announcements, Quizzes). In the rich text editor you will see a plug-in icon at the far right, this is the tool you'll use to embed videos into Canvas.

Scroll down through the options until you find the My Media app from the plug-in menu:

Once you click on My Media you will be able to select the specific video you want to embed in Canvas. To embed the video, click on the blue </> Embed option:

After you've embedded the video, make sure to Save the changes to your Canvas page!
