How to Download a Collaborate Ultra Recording

This document explains how to download a Blackboard Collaborate Ultra recording as a .mp4 file.

Blackboard’s contract to provide web conference services to the University of Wisconsin will expire on 6/30/2021. Access to Blackboard Collaborate Ultra web conference sessions, recordings, usage data, and all other services will end on that date. The UW System plans on negotiating a conferencing contract with Zoom before the start of the Fall 2021 semester. Alternative conferencing tools such as Microsoft Teams and WebEx will continue to be available during this transition. More information can be found here.

If you would like to save a copy of your Blackboard Collaborate Ultra recording, you can do so by downloading the recording as a .mp4 file. To start, you'll need to ensure that the session you've created to make the recordings has downloads available. This is done under the Session Settings option within a specific session:

Session Settings - BBC Ultra

After you've created your Ultra recording, you can access all recordings through the menu tab within Ultra:

Recording Menu - BBC Ultra

You'll see three dots to the far right of every recording. That's the Recording Options panel. If you expand the menu, you'll find the Download option:

Recording Options Menu - BBC Ultra

Once you click Download, a .mp4 file will save to your computer.
