Canvas - Adding a New File to a Canvas Module

This guide is meant to show you the steps for adding and uploading files to your Canvas course modules.

1. Go to the homepage of your course. Locate the module you wish to add your file to and click the [+] button at the top of this module to add content to it. This will open a popup menu.

 
Click the +Add button at the top of your module.
 
2. At the top of the popup menu is a drop-down list of items that you can add to your module. Select File from this drop-down menu.
 
Select the "File" option from the dropdown menu.
 
3. You should now see a list of the files that you have previously added to your course (if you have any). 
If you have already uploaded the desired file to this course, select it on this list and proceed to step 4. 
If you wish to upload a new file, select [New file] at the top of the list. Below the list should now be a Choose File button. Click on this and locate the file from your computer.
 
Either upload a new file or select a previously uploaded file, then click "Add item" at the bottom of the frame.
 
4. Click Add item at the bottom-right corner of the popup menu to add your file. It will automatically appear at the bottom of the module, so you may have to drag-and-drop it to rearrange where it is placed.
