How to connect rangermail to the iOS 'Mail' app

This article summarizes the setup process for the iOS Mail App, the default mail app for Apple devices. Included is an addendum describing how to re-sign in when Mail requests your password again.

Sign in Process

First, when opening mail for the first time you may be prompted to add an account. If you are trying to add another account or this doesn't pop up, this can be found in the accounts menu in the Mail app's settings page. For rangermail to work properly, tap "Microsoft Exchange"

Then, you will be prompted enter an email to setup. Enter your UW parkside email address in the Email field, and a description that makes sense to you in the description field.
Note that the description field is not tracked or stored by UWP, but is intended for personal reference by Apple. Once all relevant information has been entered, tap Next.

Mail App re-signin Process

Due to security policy, every 2 weeks you may be required to sign in again to keep using Mail. This is a security measure and cannot be changed. When Mail needs you to reauthenticate, you may be prompted to re-enter your password via a popup at the bottom of the screen when using the app. If you do not receive this popup and notice you are not receiving emails follow the following steps to sign in to the Mail app again and continue receiving emails.

  1. Go to the home screen.
  2. Find the settings app, and tap it to open it.
  3. Scroll down to Mail to view the Mail app's settings
  4. Tap Accounts
  5. Tap the associated rangermail account
  6. Then, tap the button that says "Re-enter Password". Note that you will not see this button if your password is not needed by Mail, i.e. you should still be receiving email

Following these steps, you should now be receiving emails again! If you have any questions, concerns, or if this article did not help, please call us at 262-595-2444 or reach out to our servicedesk at servicedesk@uwp.edu
