Canvas - How to add Blackboard Collaborate Ultra

This document will walk you through adding Blackboard Collaborate Ultra to your course in Canvas.

Blackboard's contract to provide web conference services to the University of Wisconsin will expire on 06/30/2021. Access to Blackboard Collaborate Ultra web conference sessions, recordings, usage data, and all other services will end on that date. The UW System plans on negotiating a conferencing contract with Zoom before the start of the Fall 2021 semester. Alternative conferencing tools such as Microsoft Teams and WebEx will continue to be available during this transition. More information can be found here.

Blackboard Collaborate Ultra is Parkside's LMS web conferencing tool. To add Blackboard Collaborate Ultra to your course, you'll follow the steps below.

Step 1: Go your course in Canvas and click on Settings located on the left hand navigation.
Step 2: Click on the Navigation tab near the top of the page.

Step 3: Locate the Collaborate Ultra box in the second list of items. (This is a list of everything that is not currently featured on your course's navigation.)

Step 4: Click on the Collaborate Ultra box, hold down, and drag the box up to the first list of navigation items.

Step 5: Click the green Save button at the bottom of the page. You should now see the Collaborate Ultra tab on your course's navigation.

*Note: This is only effective for one course. If you want to add Collaborate Ultra to each of your courses, you'll have to do these steps for each course individually.
