How to Select a Textbook For Your Course
To start, you'll need to log into Solar. From there, you'll enter the Faculty Center tab. Instead of selecting a specific course from the list, you'll instead want to open the Search tab:
From the Search tab, you'll see an option called UWP Bookstore. Click on that button:
This button is going to launch a new browser tab, opening Follett. Choose the Faculty option:
From the Faculty tab you'll see all of the courses you're scheduled to teach. You may need to change the semester if you're looking for if you're scheduled to teach multiple terms. Click on the title of the course you're choosing a book for:
Once you open the specific course you're looking for, you'll see a list of any adoptions you've already made. This is where you can learn more about the selections you've chosen. If you have not adopted any materials yet, you'll see a dialogue box telling you that. Click on the Discover for this course button to begin searching for materials:
Follett will generate some initial suggestions for you related to the title of the course you're teaching. To look for more specific options, type your keyword(s) into the search bar and click Go at the top right of the page:
This will give you a list of textbooks and materials that fit your search description. To view any of the options in more detail simply click on the textbook. You'll also be able to check on the book's price, whether the book is rentable, and to designate whether the material is required or optional.
Once you find the book you'd like to use and adjusted the details accordingly, click on the Adopt button at the bottom right of the page:
At any time you can go back into the Follett faculty portal to add course materials or view the existing selections.
