Okta - Password Reset

This article will teach you how to reset your password.

If you have forgotten your password or simply want to change it, you can reset it yourself from the login screen.

NOTE: You will need one of your Security Methods present to reset the password on your account.

If you have not set up a secondary email account, smartphone, or other SMS capable mobile device as a password recovery option, there will be no alternative email or phone number to receive the password recovery link. 

If you have neither set up, contact the CTS TechBar at (262) 595-2444 for direct assistance.

The CTS TechBar is open Monday through Thursday 7:45AM to 8:00PM and Fridays 7:45AM to 4:30PM during the Spring and Fall terms. Summer and winterim hours are Monday through Friday 7:45AM to 4:30PM

I REMEMBER MY PASSWORD

  1. In the browser address bar (Alt+D), type in the Okta dashboard sign-in URL (myapps.uwp.edu)

  2. Enter your information and follow the authentication prompts

  3. From your Okta dashboard, click your name to open the drop-down menu

  4. Click Settings from the drop-down menu next to your name at the top right of the page. The Account page will open.

    NOTE: You may time-out if you were away from the screen for a particularly long time, On the Account page, there may be a green button labeled Edit Profile. Click Edit Profile and follow the authentication prompts to re-authenticate. You will also re-authenticate if you have not edited your profile recently.

  5. In the Change Password section, enter your current and new passwords, confirm the new password, and click Change Password* to confirm the change.

    NOTE
    : It is recommended to click the check box labeled “Sign me out of all other devices” when changing your password, especially if you think your account has been compromised. This will revoke all user sessions across all your devices and protect your account from unauthorized access gained from the old password. 

I HAVE FORGOTTEN MY PASSWORD

  2. Click Forgot Password

  3. Enter your UW-Parkside email or username and click Next

  4. Click your preferred recovery method. You will receive instructions to Reset your Password along with an OTP (a six-digit one-time password) via text message or an email with a Reset Password recovery link.

  5. Once you have verified your identity, you will be prompted to set a new password. Please follow the password requirements as detailed on the page

    Recovery emails go to both your primary and secondary email accounts. If you have not set up a secondary email for password recovery, there will be no alternative email for the link. The recovery email will only be sent to your primary email (to which you do not have access).

    Likewise, SMS recovery is only viable if you have set your phone or other SMS capable mobile device as a recovery option.
