Are you experiencing issues while using your laptop connected to a docking station? Especially when new, docking stations need to have their firmware (called drivers) updated for optimal performance. Follow along with this guide as a baseline to fixing continued issues with a docking station.

1. Open up your web browser and visit this website: https://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/product-support/product/dell-thunderbolt-dock-tb16/drivers. Verify that the “Drivers & Downloads” tab is selected.

Step 1
2. Under the “Drivers & Downloads” tab, select all available updates. Then click “Download All”.

Step 2
3. Verify each Download by clicking “Save File”, one at a time.

Step 3
4. Open and run each .exe to run the updates for your docking station.

Step 4
These updates will require several restarts of your PC. Make sure to save any progress or important documents before running these installations. Each of these Downloads will install a different important driver for using your docking station. These include drivers for your laptop (audio, network, and USB) and a firmware update for your docking station itself.

Once these have been installed, simple issues with your docking station will more than likely be remedied. If you found this article on the UW-P Knowledge Base or had this article referred to you by a member of CTS and your issues are not resolved, please reach out to us.
