User Guide to Windows 10 Start Menu
The start menu can be accessed by clicking on the Windows Icon on the bottom left of your screen.
After clicking on the Windows Icon, the Start Menu will open up for you to use as seen below.
This menu gives you access to power options, system settings, user settings, and all of your computer’s applications.
When opening the Start Menu for the first time, you will notice a list of applications. You can scroll through all Applications and most folders on your Windows 10 machine as we see below.
You can also search by utilizing the Search function of the Start Menu. By typing anything on your keyboard while this menu is up, you will automatically be brought to the Search Bar as seen in the example below.
By typing “Word” we see that the Best match, Recent documents, and other applications that may match what you are searching for appear. You can create your own filters for these searches by selecting the Filter dropdown and selecting the appropriate filter option, but this is not necessary in most cases.
Your Power Options can be selected by clicking on the button as shown below.
This will give you access to either put your computer to sleep, shut the computer down, or restart the computer.
To access Windows Settings you can select the gear icon as shown below.
This menu will allow you to access system settings such as notifications, power settings, display settings, language, and personalization features.
Finally, clicking the Account icon as shown below will bring up different account options for you to use.
These options will either allow you to change account settings, Lock your computer, Sign out, or Switch to another user (keeps current user signed in).
